Vive Health Recalls Adult Bed Rails After Death from Entrapment; Stop Use Immediately

Vive Health has issued an urgent recall of adult portable bed rails following a death linked to entrapment and asphyxiation hazards, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced March 26, 2026.

The recall affects three specific models of Vive Health bed rails:

• Compact Bed Rail (model LVA2009SLV)
• Bed Rail Collection V (model LVA2097SLV)
• Bed Rail model LVA1024 purchased on or before August 21, 2023

The Safety Risk

The recalled bed rails create a deadly trap for users. When attached to a bed, people can become entrapped either within the bed rail itself or in the dangerous gap between the bed rail and mattress. This entrapment poses a serious risk of death by asphyxiation, and one fatality has already been reported.

The recalled bed rails are constructed of silver or white metal tubing with black foam rubber grip handles. Importantly, some units may not contain model numbers or brand-specific labels, making identification challenging for consumers.

What You Should Do

If you own any of these Vive Health bed rails, stop using them immediately. The company is offering full refunds to affected customers.

To obtain your refund:

1. Write "RECALLED" in permanent marker on both the upper and lower portions of your bed rail
2. Take a photo of the marked bed rail alongside a piece of paper with your name written on it
3. Email the photo to recalls@vivehealth.com
4. Dispose of the bed rail according to your local waste disposal procedures

Previous Recall History

This represents an expansion of Vive Health's safety issues with bed rails. The company previously recalled units of model LVA1024 purchased after August 21, 2023, on February 19, 2026. This new recall covers the remaining units of that model purchased earlier, plus the two additional models.
