DuraTrac has issued an urgent recall of its stainless steel gas connectors due to a serious manufacturing defect that could cause gas leaks, creating a significant fire hazard for consumers. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on March 26, 2026.

The recalled gas connectors were sold between May 2025 and November 2025 and contain a defect that compromises their ability to safely contain gas. This manufacturing flaw can lead to dangerous gas leaks that pose an immediate fire risk to households. The recall has already been linked to one reported injury, highlighting the urgent nature of this safety issue.

What Products Are Affected

The recalled DuraTrac stainless steel gas connectors can be identified by several key features:

  • A yellow product label displaying the "DuraTrac" brand name
  • "Made in Thailand" marking on the label
  • CSA file number "259973" engraved on the flare nuts
  • Manufacturing date codes of 24D, 25A, 25B, or 25C also engraved on the flare nuts

These connectors are commonly used to connect gas appliances like stoves, dryers, and water heaters to gas supply lines in homes.

Immediate Action Required

The CPSC and DuraTrac strongly urge consumers to stop using these gas connectors immediately. Do not attempt to repair or continue using the recalled products, as the risk of gas leak and fire is too serious to ignore.

Consumers who own these recalled connectors should contact DuraTrac directly to arrange for a full refund. The company has committed to providing complete reimbursement for all affected products.

How to Check Your Product

To determine if your gas connector is part of this recall, locate the yellow DuraTrac label and check for the "Made in Thailand" marking and CSA file number "259973." Then examine the flare nuts for the manufacturing date codes 24D, 25A, 25B, or 25C.

If you're unsure about identifying these components or need assistance disconnecting gas appliances safely, contact a qualified technician or your gas utility company.

For more information about this recall or to request a refund, consumers can visit the CPSC website at cpsc.gov or contact DuraTrac customer service. Given the fire risk involved, prompt action is essential to protect your family's safety.
